Caraway Housing Authority makes affordable living a priority for all as an Equal Housing Opportunity Provider. We extend our services to low-income families and individuals who require assistance in obtaining living arrangements. Our housing options ensure quality living, upholding guided standards on cleanliness, stability, and more. It's our belief that every person deserves to have a wonderful place to call home and that's what we aim to provide.
The Process
At the time of application, applicants need to provide the following information:
• Proof of Social Security Number for all household members.
• Photo Identification of all adults.
• Proof of birth of all minor children living in the household.
• Proof of all income for the household.
What happens once I have submitted my application?
CHA's staff will review your application to make sure that you have completed all areas and signed in all appropriate places. Once this is established, they will begin the verification process which includes checking with your current and former landlords and employers. After you have been determined “eligible,” you will be notified and your name will be placed on a waiting list.
How long will I have to wait?
Once your eligibility for housing has been determined, your name will be added to the waiting list for housing. When a vacancy occurs, you’ll be notified and instructed on how to proceed next.
How are vacancies filled?
As vacancies in the CHA Public Housing community occur, an approved individual or family is selected once their name comes to the top of the waiting list.At that point, an appointment is made for the applicant to visit the site.
The Property Manager meets the prospective resident, shows them the apartment that is available, and makes an offer of housing. If the applicant accepts, they pay a deposit, sign the lease, complete the orientation and are given a set of keys.
